Highlight Photo GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES 1,000 JOBS AT GLOBAL TRANSPARK 5/14/2008
- Gov. Mike Easley announced that Spirit AeroSystems Inc., the world’s largest independent supplier of commercial airplane assemblies and components, will open a manufacturing plant at the N.C. Global TransPark in Kinston. Plans call for investment of more than $570.5 million and the creation of 1,031 jobs during the next six years. State grants from the One North Carolina Fund and Job Development Investment Grant program and a grant from the non-profit Golden LEAF Foundation to the Global TransPark Authority helped make the project possible.

GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES TITAN AMERICA TO ADD 161 JOBS IN NEW HANOVER 5/16/2008
Gov. Mike Easley today announced that Titan America LLC, a major producer of heavy building materials, is planning a new facility in Castle Hayne in New Hanover County. The cement plant, which will create 161 new jobs during the next three years and a company investment of $469 million, was made possible in part by a $300,000 One North Carolina Fund grant. full story...

GOV. EASLEY REQUESTS DISASTER DECLARATION FOR ONSLOW COUNTY 5/16/2008
Gov. Mike Easley today sent a letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA) requesting a disaster declaration for residents in Onslow County who suffered damage from the tornado that hit on Sunday. The declaration makes residents and business owners in Onslow County eligible for low-interest loans to assist with repairs. On Wednesday, Easley toured tornado damage and met with local officials and emergency responders at the Mobile Command Center in Belgrade. full story...
